Your own 3̶D̶ 2D+3D software.

Blender 2.8 is now rocking a fully fledged 2D Animation pipeline with the complete rewrite of the Grease Pencil system. This is a round-up of the main features you’ll find when playing around, but it’s such a big project that I didn’t even managed to cover everything like the animation editors or materials. Go explore!

Congratulations Grease Pencil team: Antonio Vazquez, Joshua Leung, Daniel Martinez Lara, Matias Mendiola.

Landed in both master and Blender 2.8. Will it come to EEVEE? Eventually parts of it can be made compatible but it won’t look the same as this is quite raytracing heavy.

One of the missing parts of Blender 2.8 until now was something as simple yet complex as being able to see wires on your models. To test topology or simply modeling. Wireframes are back! What’s next? Per-object visibility in the Outliner perhaps?

The workbench engine just got a new mode to help you visualize your models in different lighting using your own custom HDRIs! This lays the foundation for custom other stuff as well, did someone say matcaps?
