Youngstown’s First Game Jam
Youngstown Game Developers (YGD) along with the John J McDonough Museum of Art will be hosting Youngstown’s First Game Jam!
What is a game jam?
A game jam is an event where people come together to create a video game in a limited time frame and based on a particular theme. The YGD April Game Jam will be a 48 hour overnight game jam at the McDonough Museum, YSU’s Center for Contemporary Ideas, Art, Education, and Community.
The Jam will start on April 1st at 6:00 pm with check-in for the registered attendees. At 7:00 pm there will be a keynote speech, a short talk about game jamming, and the announcement of this year’s theme. After the opening presentation, the attendees will break off into groups and begin creating their games.
At 3:00 pm on April 3rd all of the teams will present the amazing games they created! We would like to invite you to come down and check out what the students and local developers are creating during this weekend. With over 30 people attending, it will be an exciting event!
“I’m very excited to be helping to host Youngstown’s first game jam. I am very thankful for all of our sponsors including YSU’s McDonough Museum of Art. Without them, this would not have been possible.” -Kendra Corpier, Organizer of Youngstown Game Developers.
